Nominations Longlist Published as Judges Consider CT Awards

The judges are now at work, and the winners will be announced during the conference reception at OpenCulture 2013 on Tuesday 2 July.

Deep Visuals' ViziQuest System installed at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery

Deep Visuals have installed one of their ViziQuest visual semantic browsing systems on a touchscreen kiosk at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford to take visitors on a highly-visual, personalised journey through the Gallery's magnificent print collection.

The Gallery chose to have the system installed on a touchscreen kiosk, and foresee other opportunities to use ViziQuest to provide public access to their collections through other applications.

New Collections Trust Award Celebrates Participatory Practice

image: CT Awards logoParticipatory Museum Practice will be celebrated on July 2nd at OpenCulture 2013 as part of the Collections Trust Awards presentation. The Collections Trust has joined forces with Historypin to launch a new award for participatory practice, and its Chief Executive Nick Stanhope has joined the judging panel.

This new award complements Collections Management Awards for Best Collections Practice and Collections on a Budget, which highlight outstanding work in the collections community.

The CT Collections Management Awards for Best Collections Practice and Collections on a Budget will highlight outstanding work in the collections community.

CT’s online communities are growing fast

Collection Trust’s online communities are expanding fast. More than 3,500 subscribers have registered for the Collections Link website - up 75% in the past year. Meanwhile, CT’s Collections Management LinkedIn Group now has 3,600 members - a rise of 180% on 2011. Together they make up an increasingly significant and influential group of collections professionals.

Collections Link provides its members with access to high-quality content, an eNewsletter, and 65 special discussion groups. Latest survey results show 95% of respondents rate the site’s information “Useful” or “Very Useful” while 87% rate its content “Good” or “Excellent”. CT LinkedIn members are extremely active with more than 200 discussions started in the past year.

More than 6,000 professionals have now joined the Collections Trust’s two specialist networks - Collections Link and CT’s Collections Management Group on LinkedIn.
