CT Awards shortlists announced prior to winners presentation at OpenCulture

ct awards logo 250Shortlists have just been announced for five Collections Trust Awards for excellence in collections management. The winners will be revealed during a special presentation at the OpenCulture 2014 conference reception at the Kia Oval in London on Wednesday 25 June.

Creating Value is the New Digitisation

image: creating value slideNew and emerging trends in digitising cultural heritage are analysed by Collections Trust’s CEO Nick Poole in a new Slideshare presentation based on the proposition that “Creating Value is the New Digitisation”.

Nick identifies a move away from mass digitisation towards integrated processes that deliver rich narrative-based experiences, and highlights key developments in production, delivery and promotion.

Four new Collections Trust webinars provide free online training resource

Audio recordings of four webinars developed by Collections Trust, with funding and support from Arts Council England, are now available as a new online training resource on Collections Link.

The webinars feature presentations on key subjects delivered by expert speakers, which have been synchronised with their PowerPoint presentations. Each webinar lasts an hour, and includes 25 minutes of in-depth discussions with participants.

Aimed at small and medium-sized museums who are either Accredited or working towards Accreditation. The four key subjects covered are:

  • Licensing Digital Content to Create Revenue
  • Strategic Collections Management
  • Managing Archives in Museums
  • Buying Collections Management Software

The four webinars are a prime opportunity for museum professionals to refresh their knowledge about key collections management topics. Each one enables listeners to improve their knowledge of a key collections management topic, learn from the experience of sector experts, identify related support material, and hear colleagues question speakers and raise issues and concerns. Project Update proposals sought from OpenCulture delegates

OpenCulture stack negativeDelegates who have booked for OpenCulture 2014 can propose presentations for two Project Update sessions. Following the highly-successful launch of the Updates last year, 12 slots are available - six focussed on Technology and six on Collections. Proposals will be assessed by an independent panel. Blackwall Green and Hiscox extend their partnership with Collections Trust

The successful partnership between specialist brokers Blackwall Green, insurers Hiscox, and Collections Trust will be continued into a second year with an expanded programme. This follows excellent co-operation in presenting the Insurance for Museums Conference 2013, which delegates rated 97% Good to Excellent.

Nominations are now open for the Collections Trust Awards 2014

Three new awards have been added this year to celebrate the Collections Manager and Young Collections Professional of the Year, and to recognise exceptional expertise in developing Enterprise in a Museum.

Relevance is defining challenge for our generation states Collections Trust CEO in WebWise Keynote Address

image: Web Wise conferenceTwo profound challenges are confronting the museums, archives and galleries community - the first is relevance and the second is value, according to Collections Trust’s CEO Nick Poole as he delivered the Keynote Address at the WebWise 2014 Conference in Baltimore on Monday 10 February.

Organised by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the annual event attracts delegates from across the US. It highlights recent research and innovations in digital technology, explores their potential impacts on library and museum services, and promotes effective museum and library practices in a digital environment.
